What began with the purchase of a second-hand black men’s overcoat evolved into a five-year photographic project. The series centres on photographing different models wearing the same coat, often paired with a Peaky Blinders–style cap.
From the very first shoot, I was captivated by the strength of the look I was achieving. Despite the clothing remaining constant throughout the project, each shoot revealed a distinct mood, character, and visual identity. The individuality of each model brought a new energy to the images, allowing the same garments to tell different stories.
As the project now comes to an end, I am preparing to publish a zine that encapsulates the full series bringing together the varied atmospheres, personalities, and interpretations that emerged over the course of the project.
